US Postal Service Feeds Families

On Saturday, May 12, residents of Coastal Fairfield County helped feed families throughout our region by participating in the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Letter carriers in partnership with the U.S. Postal Service collected food for families in need. Helping out was easy - residents collected and bagged non-perishable food items and placed them by their mailboxes. Letter carriers collected and delivered the items to local food banks or pantries. United Way Worldwide honors Deloitte with top national awards

United Way Worldwide recently honored Deloitte LLP with the two Summit awards for volunteer engagement and community impact in education. The Summit Awards program is United Way’s highest national honor for a corporation, recognizing United Way Global Corporate Leaders with the most comprehensive commitments to strengthening communities. Applicants are evaluated by corporate peers and local United Ways.

Aquarion Gardens in Celebration of Earth Day

On Tuesday, April 24, ten Aquarion volunteers celebrated Earth Day at the Cardinal Shehan Center in Bridgeport. The volunteers spent the day cleaning and expanding a garden that will be used in the Shehan Center's summer camp program.

Celebrating National Volunteer Month!

On April 12, 2012, 135 people gathered together at Fairfield Ludlowe High School to celebrate the volunteers of Coastal Fairfield County. Each year the Voluntary Action Center, a partnership of Human Services Council and United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, give local non-profit organizations the opportunity to select one adult and one youth volunteer to be awarded at our recognition reception.
