United Way of Coastal Fairfield County supports a fast, free and easy way to get your taxes done through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. In partnership with Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS) , the VITA program relies on dedicated volunteers who are trained by the IRS and certified to prepare simple tax returns and screen customers for special tax credits.
Through the VITA program thousands of families gain an understanding of the possible credits they can receive such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and learn about the tax process and and become empowered to make financial decisions for the future.
VITA volunteers offer free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
