Volunteer

This year marks the fifth straight year that RBS Card Services will launch its United Way campaign.  The campaign at RBS has been steadily progressing over the last few years, and they are part of United Way’s Prestigious Chairman’s Circle!   Each year, the chairs and steering committee at RBS Card Services come forth with new, exciting and engaging activities, which drive their campaign including events such as Bake Sales, Blue Jeans Fridays, Holiday Cookbooks and CDs. 

At RBS, each employee lives united on a daily basis through their Credo which focuses on three-dimensions - Customers; Colleagues; Community.   They see each of these dimensions as vital to our business and community efforts here at RBS.

In the Community section of the Credo, it says in part:

“We believe great companies have a moral core. We care deeply about our communities and we demonstrate this commitment every day by volunteering where there is need. … By giving back, and conducting ourselves with integrity, our customers and colleagues will be proud of us, and our company.”

It is in this spirit that they approach their giving and volunteering activities in the community.  RBS Card Services is part of dynamic and growing global organization, with a strong commitment to its customers, colleagues and community, wherever they may be.  They are proud of that reputation and want to do everything we can to demonstrate it in Coastal Fairfield County and throughout the nation. 

Doing business in 13 states and investing in those communities, they have worked with many United Ways.  “We feel that United Way of Coastal Fairfield County is the highest performing United Way in the country.  We are the corporate sponsor of United Way’s Destination Home initiative, which was instrumental in the creation of the nationally recognized Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness.  The results that have been achieved through this plan are incredible and that is why we would like to lead the movement to create Ten-Year Plans throughout the country, using the United Way of Coastal Fairfield County model, states RBS President Joe Hoffman.    

RBS is very excited about their campaign results:

• Thanks to the generosity of their colleagues (around 600) and the creative leadership of their United Way Co-Chairs Dan McCarthy and Joan McKenzie, RBS raised a total of $136,141 for the calendar year 2007.

• RBS managers kicked off the campaign in August of 2007 with 100% participation!

• They also received a 93% participation rate for their entire colleague base – outstanding!

•  Our 2008 United Way Tri- Chairs Joan McKenzie, Pam Newton-Coombs, and Anthony Ziomek will lead the campaign in fundraising, volunteer and special events.
