GE Volunteers support School of Hope

A group of GE Volunteers got together to brighten up the entranceway to Geraldine Johnson School with flowers and mulch.  While at the school, they also had an opportunity to read to the children.  Dr. Jim Crispino of United Way talked to the volunteers about Schools of Hope and why United Way supports this program.  It was a great show of community support by GE.  Perhaps Marlene Roberts, principal of Geraldine Johnson, put it best......

"Thank you!  Thank you!  … to all of you for the incredible teamwork, beautiful plantings and creative signs which all of you helped to bring to our front entrance school flower garden.  I only wish you could have been here this morning to hear all the praise and compliments about the work of the General Electric volunteers expressed by staff, children and parents.  It is such a lovely sight to behold.  We are in awe of all of it!  We feel our school has been ingratiated with such goodness and talent.  I have been told that teachers are already making plans to take the walk through our precious spring garden to learn about flowers, bugs, photosynthesis and more.  Please know the appreciation and the words of praise are great.  We are ever so grateful.  Thank you for helping us during such difficult economic times."
