Community Response Small Grants Program

As United Way of Coastal Fairfield County continues to respond to emerging community needs, we will be piloting a Community Response Small Grants Program.   United Way is encouraging 501(c)(3) organizations and government institutions in our twelve town area to apply for funding.  We are looking to invest $100,000 total in innovative programs or the expansion of successful programs that are focused on addressing community needs in one of our seven target issues.  

In the area of Education, the target issues are:

  • Readiness to Achieve in School
  • Academic Achievement

In our work in the area of Income, the target issues are:

  • Achieving Greater Financial Stability
  • Increasing Affordable Housing and Reducing Homelessness
  • Providing Basic Needs

And in the area of Health, the target issues are:

  • Healthy Youth and Resilient Families
  • Healthy Older Adults

There will be two rounds of applications for the total grant funds available.  Grant applications should be in the range of $3,000 to $7,000.  The first round of applications are due January 11, 2010.  The second round of applications are due April 1, 2010.
