The Mentoring Institute-About Us

"One person can make a difference and everyone should try." - John F. Kennedy
The Mentoring Institute of Coastal Fairfield County, an initiative of United Way of Coastal Fairfield County, is a partnership of community, school, career, faith and online mentoring programs that work collaborately to increase the number of youth matched with well-prepared mentors in a twelve-town region, that includes Bridgeport, Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stratford, Trumbull, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. It accomplishes its goal by enhancing the capacity of participating mentoring programs in mentor recruitment, screening, matching and training.
The Governor’s Prevention Partnership, through its Connecticut Mentoring Partnership (CMP), has been an invaluable partner in these efforts and continues to provide resources, including staff expertise, state and national research data, information on best practices, and training opportunities to mentoring programs throughout the State of Connecticut. The CMP, an affiliate to The National Mentoring Partnership, provides strategic leadership in the field and advocates on the state and national level for increased support for mentoring. Their shared goal is to develop capacity of mentoring programs to successfully match and maintain youth with mentors.
