Casey Family Services is a fully-licensed and accredited non-profit child welfare agency dedicated to foster care.Established in 1976, the Bridgeport Division of Casey Family Services offers an array of services to support and strengthen children, families, and communities in the Greater Bridgeport area and New Haven County. The Bridgeport Division is looking for energetic, creative, and giving individuals who would like to share their time and talents by volunteering as tutors and mentors for the children who receive services from our agency.

Foster Grandparent Program (Mentoring)

The Foster Grandparent Program, a national service program, provides meaningful volunteer opportunities to those age 55 (beginning Oct. 1, 2009) whose incomes are limited to mentor children and youth in the community.  Serving 20 hours a week in schools and community centers; they help children who have need for academic assistance, social skill improvement and a general need for love and encouragement.


Stipend received: $53.00 a week

High school students in Bridgeport, Stratford and Trumbull benefit from a nationwide program designed to introduce them to the wide range of career opportunities open in Architecture, Construction, Engineering (ACE) and related areas of the building design and construction industry.  During the school year, student teams meet regularly and work directly with professionals from local area firms who volunteer time to help teams design and present hypothetical projects, and tour local construction sites.

Mentors make time and financial investments. Shepherds provides training, resources and activities. Program's extended one-on-one Mentor/Student relationship is unique with a proven track record.
