Westport Country Playhouse will probe deep into the human psyche and explore relationships and issues that are particularly relevant in the world today. Our work will be intellectually challenging, emotionally uplifting, and even shocking at times, but it will be grounded in characters that touch the human soul. We seek innovative and provocative artists to create new work as we strive to enlighten, enrich and engage a diverse community of theatre lovers, artists and students.

The Barnum Museum

From its opening on February 18, 1893 to present day, The Barnum Museum has been committed to the preservation and interpretation of Bridgeport's industrial and social history, as well as being an outstanding educational resource for students of all ages. Designed by the architectural firm Longstaff & Hurd, the Museum was originally named The Barnum Institute of Science and History.

Downtown Cabaret Theatre

Since the Theatre's official opening with VAUDEVILLE TROUPE on February 27, 1976, well over half a million adults and children have enjoyed musical productions in the unique "Bring Your Own Picnic" cabaret atmosphere. It is now recognized as an important regional theatre.

Drawing upon both Connecticut and New York talent, the Downtown Cabaret has proven to be a marvelous opportunity for theatre professionals to showcase their talents and it has created a perfect environment for the seasoned and up-and-coming artist.
